About Sacred Honor
I wrote Sacred Honor because we’ve forgotten them.
Ask most Americans to name the men who signed the Declaration of Independence, and they’ll give you three or four. There were 56. Each one signed his name to an act of treason, knowing the penalty was death. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, and many of them lost all three. Their homes were burned, their families scattered, their fortunes ruined. Some never lived to see the country they helped create.
Those aren’t footnotes. They’re the whole story.
This book profiles all 56 signers, one by one, telling not just who they were but what their signatures actually cost them. I wrote it to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration, and I wrote it to be read with your family, so the next generation knows these names and understands what freedom demanded of the men who first declared it.
We inherited what they built. The least we owe them is to remember.
